Today in class we took notes on describing patterns and algebraic formulas. For describing patterns the steps to make a pattern are 1- Describe the first shape(size, quantitiy and shape) 2- change between each shape/step (increase/decrease, size of change). The pattern we made started with 3 triangles and everytime you have to add one more triangle. We also made a t-chart. This is what we learnt on algebraic formula's. An algebraic formula for any changing pattern needs the following components.
1-starting point
2-change from one step to the next
3-A variable that represents any possible step in the pattern.
A variable is an unknown quantity that we are trying to solve for.
